Our Founder
Kendall Short is the Managing Partner at Nextaff of Wyandotte County (Kansas). He is born and raised in Kansas City, and has always had a passion for giving. He is the recipient of the Inaugural Award of Valor at Missouri Western after embarking on a trip with the idea of giving back. In 2016, he took a solo road trip to from Kansas City to New Orleans during Christmas break. After a month long fundraiser, hand-delivered donations were provided to the Kansas City Police and Fire Departments, Memphis Police Association, and the New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation (NOPD Foundation).
Kansas City Police and Fire Departments
- 30% of the donations went towards the IAFF’s muscular dystrophy fund
- 50% of the donations raised went to the Police Department and their local charity of choice.
Memphis Police Association
The MPA is collected donations to purchase gifts for children of homicide victims. That year, Memphis had 245 homicides. The money donated helped purchase presents for children of the victims.
New Orleans Police and Justice Foundation (NOPD Foundation)
- NOPD Tuition Assistance Program: Helps NOPD pay for their staff's higher education.
- Tragedy Fund: Assisting families of seriously injured officers in their time of need.
- NOPD Cops for Kids Program: Provides a safe, enriching environment for 150+ at-risk New Orleans youth every year.
- NOPD's groundbreaking Adopt-a-Block initiative is helping residents install private security cameras in high crime hot spots..
At the end of the 2016-2017 academic year, Kendall once again took a trip, but this time to the West Coast.
- 25% to the Phoenix Police Department went toward a fund of their choice.
- 25% to the Page Fire Dpartment went toward a fund of their choice.
- 25% to the Kanab Fire Department went toward a fund of their choice.
- 15% went to Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab, Utah.
Overall, Kendall believes that in order to tout the Locally Owned and Operated badge, we should also give back to the community we do business in.
